Tick-Tock

On my way to evening Mass (Extraordinary Use, Latin) at the Church of Our Saviour, I passed by Lord & Taylor's department store and heard rock music coming out of a loudspeaker; tied in I imagine (I didn't look) with a window display, something for which L & T is justly famous. It did strike me hearing rock and roll emanating from that venerable and (let's face it) slightly dowdy institution, thinking it would be more appropriate for them to be broadcasting music more popular with older persons. I then realized the tune playing was "Do You Believe in Magic," by John Sebastian and the Lovin' Spoonful, released in 1965, forty-three years ago. Lord & Taylor's was indeed broadcasting music to older persons, this one included.
