Then and Now.

IMG_3892.jpeg

The New York Post reports today St. Patrick's Cathedral was graffiti-bombed with various semi-literate spray painted scrawlings by loser anarchists concerning the murder by a truly dumb cop of a two-bit counterfeiter over a thousand miles away.

Just for fun, let's imagine this vandalizing of the Cathedral took place during the reign of say, Francis Cardinal Spellman (though if you're of a more historical bent, substitute Cardinal "Dagger John" Hughes instead). I propose, upon being informed of this pathetic cowardly act, Spellman would have sallied forth with brush and pail and scrubbed the crudities off the Cathedral walls himself, likely in the presence of the invited press. Possibly at the same time, a phone call would have been made to the police commissioner and, in short order, offenders rounded up (there were plenty of anarchists in Spellman's time) and with the assistance perhaps of a famous NYPD "tune-up," confessions quickly wrought.

That would be then. Now, hours after the event, when a Post reporter contacted the Archdiocese's chief functionary hack Joseph Zwilling for some sort of reaction concerning this disgrace, Mr. Zwilling boldly went out on a limb to inform the reporter he was "unaware of the crime."

Happily though, your Bloviator's extensive network of sources reports Cardinal Dolan is aware of the crime and will soon be releasing a statement containing what's claimed to be his sternest apology yet to the perpetrators of this offense.

Then and Now.

Headlines that Beggar Belief.

From Fox News:

"Minn. mayor gives masks to crowding rioters after warning in-person worship would be 'public health disaster'"

The editors of the Babylon Bee would have spiked this; good satire should have at least a minimal degree of believability.

Next: free distribution of work gloves to "protesters" [sic] so they don't cut themselves smashing shop windows.

Wisdom from the Mouths of Babes

Gaffe-O-Mat Joe unwittingly speaks the truth.

Which brings to mind this classic from way back, when Howard Stern was still funny (yes, that far back).

UPDATE:Joltin' Joe knocks another one out of the park (unfortunately, it's on the wrong side of the foul pole).

Thanks to For What it's Worth.
